The Rush Limbaugh Smoke Screen

While the Hillary Clinton linked Media Matters pushes the "Rush Limbaugh - phony soldiers" story, a crucial news item is pushed completely out of the spotlight:

Pentagon: Iraq Deaths at Yearly Low
Deaths among American forces and Iraqi civilians fell dramatically last month to their lowest levels in more than a year, according to figures compiled by the U.S. military, the Iraqi government and The Associated Press.

Why would anyone, especially presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, want such good news hidden from the front pages?

General David Petraeus took over as the Commander of coalition forces in Iraq at the beginning of this year (2007). General Petraeus has over 30 years of military experience with numerous commands and a diverse educational background (pdf file bio).

On September 11, 2007, General Petraeus testified at a Senate hearing regarding progress in Iraq. The General reported at this hearing that progress was being made in Iraq. Senator Clinton's response to General Petraeus, "I think that the reports that you provide to us really require the willing suspension of disbelief". (video clip)

Less than 1 month later, the evidence above shows presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's statement was WRONG.

But the top story being pushed by Media Matters is about Rush Limbaugh's judgment. Just a Coincidence?
